Managing Your Money In A Downturn

Northwestern Mutual was recently featured in The New York Times Wealth Matters column, "Never Mind Your 401(k). How’s Your Insurance?" about the importance of managing risk in the current economic environment, and strategies that the wealthy use to manage not only their money but their overall well-being. Northwestern Mutual Executive Vice President Greg Oberland comments about how people should be rethinking and managing their insurance needs in a downturn. Read the article (PDF).

My Mission

As a Northwestern Mutual Financial Network Representative, I look first to understand your vision for the future. It says a lot about you. And like you, your vision is unique. So is my approach to helping you shape it and attain it.

Simply put, my mission is to help you secure your family's or business's future and protect what's important to you.

Whether your financial objective is short term (a down payment on a home in the next twelve months), or long term (college savings for your kids); I have found that good habits are the central determinant in your ultimate success. Too often, people are troubled by the amount they are able to save. In reality, the amount initially allocated toward your goal is far less important than simply activating a saving plan.

As you move forward, you will realize the ability to increase your contributions. This will stem not only from improvement in cash flow, but from a growing cognizance of where and why you are spending money. You will develop an awareness of what money can and should be allocated toward your specific objective.
